June Plank Challenge!

Why do just planks?  Check this out here :)

They work out a heck of a lot of muscles.  See the muscles in red...that's what you are working in this one move.  Cool huh?

Ok so this is the challenge:

You know I wouldn't leave you hanging if you need modifications.

First is the right way to plank:

Tip on how to to one:

The only equipment that you need for the plank exercise is your own body and enough floor space to lie down on.

In a push-up motion, raise your body off the floor, supporting your weight on your forearms and your toes (Rest your body on your forearms with your palms flat on the floor). You should have a straight line from your feet to your head. For comfort, you can rotate your elbows to a 45 degree angle and clasp your palms together in the center. Make sure that your back is flat and your head, neck and spine are in a straight line.

Keep your abdominal muscles engaged and do not let your stomach drop or allow for your hips to rise up. To avoid letting your hips or butt rise up, tilt your pelvis towards the floor. Remember to breathe. This applies to all planks.

Next is a plank on your knees:

And finally on the wall if you have bad knees:
This challenge is perfect for beginners!  If you are more experienced and this isn't a challenge for you, go ahead and double the time or switch to side planks or pick up a leg & hold.

They are watching.....

I feel like I'm being watched all the time.  Every step I make....I have eyes watching.

Before you tell me I need to take off my tin foil hat, hang on lol

I'm talking about little eyes.  Mostly the eyes of my daughter.  She thinks I can do no wrong, even when she is mad at me.  Yeah that might change later but for now, I am her favorite person ever.

Not only am I determined to have a positive outlook on life and my body because of myself but also for her too.  I don't want her growing up thinking she isn't good enough.  I don't want her to change her bright bubbly personality that tries to be friends with everyone she meets.  I don't want her to obsess about her weight, calories, or her body image.  I want her to love herself no matter what life throws at her.  I want her to be what ever she really wants to be and to do it with passion.  I want her to not to be afraid to work for her goals.

We, as parents, are responsible for helping our children form healthy habits.  This is why I work so damn hard, not only with being healthy & going after my education, but with everything I want out of life.

Because she is watching.

She wants to do everything I do.

I know she isn't the only one watching and I know I have to do the same for my boys....but she really shoves the mirror in front of me.

I look at it this way......

This is why I believe in leading by example.  It's not only for people that you hope that want to change later, it's for the little eyes that follow your every move.

Because they watch you look at yourself in the mirror.

Because they watch you talk to yourself.

Because they watch how you treat and talk to others.

Because they watch you live.

What I'm Eating 5/5 - 5/11

Two blogs in one night....go me lol

This week is going to be crazy busy for me.  My DH will be gone until Thursday, Nick comes home & will be going back to school,  Nick's therapy, Katie has violin practice and a spring concert, and I need to meet up with my college advisor so I can register for classes....not to mention my every day stuff lol

Since it's going to be that way, this week will be crockpot lovin' time ;)

I love my crockpot.....almost as much as my husband lol

Monday:  My kids are having left over pizza from tonight and I'm having baked chicken & a salad.  Long story but the meat I pulled out was bad for Sunday's dinner, my kids were being crazy, my husband had to go pick up someone from the airport, laundry is piled higher than Mt Everest and I just threw my hands up and ordered pizza for the kids.  I had breakfast for dinner (spinach and scrambled eggs & a few pieces of bacon) Whew ;)

Tuesday:  Low Carb Crockpot Chili

Thursday:  Beef Stroganoff Burgers with added zoodles (zucchini noodles)

Friday:  Leftovers or Breakfast for dinner night :)

Saturday:  Nick's 13th birthday so his choice...I'll update later on what he decides!

Sunday:  Crockpot Lasagna

Yes, I'm still doing low carb.  Yes, I absolutely love it!

My snacks & breakfast are the same as last week or kind of the same.

Tanee's weekly tip:  No matter what eating "plan" you are on.....to change your body, you must change your mind.  If you think you are going to fail guess what?  You most probably will.  If you want to succeed with all of your heart, you will.  Capeesh? :)

Weekly Musings

Last Monday I had to send my oldest to a hospital for violent meltdowns.....he has Asperger's and the older he gets the harder it is to manage the meltdowns.  He's still there and due to get out Tuesday.

My minions :)

It's been so very stressful.  On one hand I miss him terribly and on the other I'm relieved that I get a break from all of it.  I know I'll get hated on for that but I really needed a rest.  I am exhausted.  I am constantly up at his school, dropping everything for him, hoping he doesn't get mad so he doesn't hurt himself or trying to run.  He'll be 13 on Saturday so couple Asperger's with teenage hormones and it's enough to make me want to eat everything in my sight.

Which I haven't....eaten everything in sight.  I figure if I can not control my sons actions, I can control what I put in my mouth.  Looking at it that way has helped curb my emotional eating this time.  :)

Hopefully this hospital stay will get through to him a little.  I am so afraid that it won't and he'll do something while he is having a meltdown that will send him to jail.

I'm trying to stay positive through this.  In fact I'm determined to be.  All I can do is guide him to the best of my ability.

So now you know why I've been kind of quiet.  That extra focus on what I am dealing with and not letting it get the best of me has really paid off.  This is why it sounds like I'm preaching how this is a totally mental game.  I know I'm worth it.  No matter what life throws at me, if I don't take care of myself then it's a huge disservice for me and everyone in my life.
